Welcome to MH370Wiki

This page lists policies which are applicable to the website www.mh370wiki.net.

Website Policies

Accessibility

Every effort is being made to ensure that this site will comply with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Mobile Devices

Please note that this website is not intended for viewing on mobile devices or small-screen devices. Consequently, for best viewer performance a wide-screen device is recommended. Many pages have multiple columns; images which should be displayed close to the text to which they relate; data obtained from official documents which originally used tables on A4 printed pages; and other features which bias the interface design toward a wide format. Also, this site is being transitioned from a Mediawiki skin (interface) which was 'mobile first', to one which (by default) is not. Ongoing development is expected to improve the performance of the site on mobile devices with small screens in the future.

Accuracy of Information

Every effort has been made to ensure that the information presented in this website is accurate.

Most of the content in this website is based on official sources: - official reports and media statements. Some content is based on media articles circulated by news agencies. Comments and Notes have been included in many pages to provide additional information about the content.

Sometimes even official sources, particularly early media statements, contained information that was not correct. News media often carried information which was misleading. Some mis-information may have been deliberate. The inclusion of content in this website which was incorrect at the time of original publication, misleading, or deliberately false, may still be relevant to the complex story of flight MH370. However, every effort will be made to identify such information as incorrect, misleading or false. Often this will be stated in the Comments and Notes in the page context.

Advertising

There are no advertisements on this website. If, in your web browser, there are advertisements or pop-up windows, they do not originate from this site, are not linked from this site and are not authorized by this website owner.

No products or services are advertised, recommended, or sold through this website.

Complaints

This website is authored in Australia but hosted in the USA. If there is cause for a complaint, please contact the Webmaster as a first step.

The following advice was prepared when this site was hosted in Australia, and may still be appropriate:-

Website content in Australia may be regulated by Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). If you are offended or upset by any material that appears on an Internet website, you are entitled to lodge a complaint with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), who will then investigate the complaint and take such action as it thinks fit. If you would like to know more about the ACMA's role in regulating Australian Internet content, you can visit its website at www.acma.gov.au

Suitability for Minors

This website is not designed for use by persons under the age of 13 but will be entirely safe for those who may come across it as the content contains nothing offensive or unsuitable for minors.

Most of the concepts and language used will suit an adult reader. The story of MH370 is, however, a tragedy involving significant loss of life, and there is a widely-held belief that it may have been deliberate, so Parental Guidance may be recommended for young readers.

No information is collected by or about persons who are under 13 years of age, with the exception of children named as passengers on flight MH370.

References

References serve several purposes: to identify the source of the information; to indicate where that original source may be located; and to acknowledge the original author as the copyright holder.

In academic websites and papers there are standard methods for including References. However, in this website the sources may be acknowledged in a non-academic way. This is deliberate, as the site is intended for easy reading.

Information collated in this website has been sourced mainly from official Reports and media statements, and other news media sources, or relevant websites. Extracts quoted from those sources are generally followed by an acknowledgement of the source and a link.

Some articles have a References section. The Reference may link to an external source, or to another wiki article. Some 'original sources' are no longer accessible, so the original content may be included in full, with an acknowledgement of the original source.

Regardless of the method used to identify information sources, Copyright ownership by the original author or source is acknowledged, either specifically or implied. See the Copyright Policy for more detail.

Note: Information which could be regarded as common knowledge may not be specifically referenced in this site. In this context, common knowledge means information that is publicly available, generally well known, and easily verifiable from any on-line dictionary or encyclopedia.

Spam

I do not support spam. Email addresses will be used only for the purpose of a reply and will not be divulged to any other party; in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

Style

This Wiki is written for a cross-cultural adult audience for whom English may be a second language. To assist with understanding terms used I have used Tooltips - whenever you see a word underlined place the mouse or cursor over it to see an inline definition or explanation. (For example - ATC.)
