Malaysia Airlines confirms that representatives from its Family Support Center have been in touch with the next-of-kin of those onboard flight MH370 that went missing on 8 March 2014, to initiate an advance compensation payment process.

This is to assist the family members in meeting their economic needs and will not affect their rights to claim compensation according to the law at a later stage. It will be calculated as part of the final compensation.

Matters with regards to compensation remain private and confidential, as such Malaysia Airlines reiterates that it will not be discussing any related details publicly, out of respect to the grieving families.
