Pusat Operasi Maritim (POMAR) di Ibu Pejabat telah menerima maklumat rasmi kehilangan Pesawat MH 370 dari Aeronautical Rescue Coordinating Center (ARCC) Subang pada 8 Mac 2014 jam 8.30 pagi. Sejurus selepas itu Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR) telah diaktifkan di perairan Laut China Selatan dan diikuti di utara perairan Selat Melaka pada petang 9 Mac 2014.
