Interpol and Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370

When Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 went missing on Saturday, 8 March 2014 the government of Malaysia sought assistance from INTERPOL, and other agencies such as the FBI (USA).
Interpol released a media statement (see below) when the identity of two Iranian nationals was confirmed. Both were travelling on stolen passports.

Passengers Using Stolen Passports
Two media statements from INTERPOL confirmed that
- the passports used by the two Iranian passengers on MH370 were recorded in the (INTERPOL) Stolen and Lost Travel Documents database, and
- no checks of the stolen Austrian and Italian passports were made by any country between the time they were entered into INTERPOL’s database and the departure of flight MH370.
