Robert, a Male aged 58, was travelling with his wife Catherine Lawton and friends Mary and Rodney Burrows, all Australian nationals.

Soulmates on a trip
Aussies Mary and Rodney Burrows from Middle Park, Australia, are the hard-working parents of two successful daughters and a son, according to their neighbour Mandy Watt who described them as soulmates. Rodney had planned his trip to China after being laid off last year, the Australian Associated Press reported. TSRMY-016
Aussie couple, Rodney and Mary Burrows, who were 59 and 54, from Brisbane, had been married nearly 30 years. Retired, they were downsizing and moving to a smaller home and expecting their first grandchild.
The Burrows were travelling to Beijing with close friends Robert and Catherine Lawton, 58 and 54, also of Australia.
The Lawtons, who had three daughters and two grandchildren, were described as "very family-oriented and happy" by a close friend. TMIMY-018
Brisbane couple Rod and Mary Burrows were on a long-planned overseas trip with friends.
Mrs Burrows had been a civilian employee with the Queensland Police Service for 16 years.
The couple had three children and were reportedly expecting their first grandchild in April.
Mr Burrows' mother Irene Burrows spoke to her son just days before the plane's disappearance.
"He was very excited about going. It's not their first overseas trip but it was planned for a long time," she said.
"[We are] just waiting for some sort of news. If they've found the wreckage or if they can tell us ... how can a plane just disappear?"
The couple's son Jayden Burrows says his parents worked hard to reap the rewards of their retirement, so they could travel and spend time with family and friends.
"We dearly love and we'll miss our mum and dad," he said.
"The love and compassion that they shared and their priority of putting their family first will help us get through this together.
"We're heartbroken this stage of their life has been cut short." ABCAU-021

Rodney and Mary Burrows were travelling with their friends Catherine and Robert Lawton. The Burrows, parents of two adult daughters and a son, had just moved house a fortnight before the flight. SCMP-049
The Burrows and Lawtons were believed to have been heading off on a long-planned trip to China together.
The Lawtons are described as kindly neighbours, doting grandparents and adventurous spirits who have long roamed the world. Robert had been working for more than 30 years at Sharp Plywood at Wacol and Cathy is visually impaired. They have three daughters. Cathy’s last comment on Facebook was “Off to China’’.
Meanwhile, Rodney had worked for Energex and Mary worked in the police force. Neighbours said the Burrows are hard-working parents of three adult children: two daughters and a son.

"Dad phoned this morning and said 'Bobby's plane's missing',"’ Mr Lawton's brother David told Australian paper, The Courier-Mail. "I couldn't believe it. I still can't believe it. We just want to know where it is, where the plane's come down, if there's anything left."
The brother's wife Rhonda said: "Cathy's last comment on Facebook was 'Off to China'."
According to friends, the Lawtons were kindly neighbours and doting grandparents who enjoyed travelling. TSTSG-003
